NVTC NEIGHBORHOOD HAPPENINGS

Parents and Associates of Northern Virginia Training Center is a 501(c)3 organization. Our organization consists of parents and other interested persons whose goal is to promote the welfare and development of all citizens with mental retardation.

Northern Virginia Training Center offers the most appropriate educational and vocational experience for each individual based on his or her skills and interests. Skilled staff teach appropriate work behaviors while completing valuable tasks on our campus and in surrounding communities. These tasks include bulk mail contracts, document collating and assembly, recycling, and numerous other skill building activities.

Commissioner Stewart meets with Parents

2010 Wish List

Mr. James Stewart, Commissioner, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, visited NVTC recently to meet with the Parents & Associates Board of Directors. Commissioner Stewart spoke about his goals for the Department and actions he is taking to reach those goals and the impact of the current economic situation on system resources. He spent more than an hour responding to questions and concerns. It was a most enlightening meeting, and Board members are most appreciative of his visit and look forward to a continuing dialogue.

2010 Formal Dance - An Affair To Be Remembered!



The theme for the 2010 Formal Dance was "Back to the 70s - Dazed and Confused." This theme was protrayed all around the venue with wall collages of significant events for each year of the decade. With music selected by the DJ from the 70s, the residents, families, staff, and volunteers excitedly danced the evening away. It was an outstanding event sponsored by the local Kawanis club who, once again, eagerly demonstrated their committment to serve NVTC residents.

8:00am - Fifth Annual Race Into Autumn 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. Packet pickup will be held at the NVTC gymnasium on Friday, August 27th between 4pm and 7pm. Race day between 7am and 8am.
